Mandhana and Harmanpreet Star as India Crushes West Indies in T20I Series

Half centuries of brilliance by Harmanpreet Kaur (56*), and Smriti Mandhana (74) helped India beat West Indies by 56 runs at the T20I Tri-Series.

The Asian side won the first match with 167/2, which was too high for the Caribbean side.

Mandhana & Kaur were unbeaten in their 115-run stand. Mandhana was particularly successful in finding the boundary and clearing the rope from Afy Fletcher’s bowling in the penultimate innings.

To chase down India’s large run, West Indies needed to get off to a quick start. Their hopes of winning were quickly dashed when Deepti Sharma (2/29) & Rajeshwari Gayakwad (1/16), helped Hayley Matthews to 25/3 in the seventh innings.

Matthews (34* and Shemaine Campbelle (47) tried to increase the scoring rate but India’s bowlers held firm to ensure that they remain unbeaten at the series after a win over South Africa.

Next month’s T20 World Cup will see India play Pakistan in Cape Town on Feb 13, while England faces the West Indies in Paarl one day earlier.
